2020 Holiday Gift Guide for Newborns

Assuming much of the baby gear and every day basics were purchased or gifted pre-baby’s arrival, I’ve tried to pull together little “extras” for the newborns on your list this year. I created a separate guide for older babies just to keep the list manageable, but of course, some of these would be great for older babies too.

Set of baby socks ($12.99) to replace all of the ones they’ve already lost.

Cozy mittens and booties that actually stay on (from $14.50).

This cutey-patooty ($14.99) keeps bottle brushes and attachments clean and easy to access on your kitchen counter.

Soft, high-contrast, and machine washable baby books ($16).

A true game changer for me - this electric baby nail file ($16.99) makes trimming tiny, fragile little baby nails much less scary (my 4 year old also loves it).

Kiwi and Co. Panda Crates (starting at $15.50/month) or Lovevery play kits (starting at $36/month). We received a Panda Crate subscription from my husband’s co-workers when my son was born. The toys are beautiful and each crate comes with a little pamphlet with age-appropriate ideas for playing with your baby, both with the included items and more generally. It includes things like teethers and toys to grasp, crinkle, stack etc. - all things I probably would have purchased anyway.

A toy to grasp or chew - Bitte Shop curates beatiful options in modern colors and designs like this one ($12).

The softest footed sleepers ($33) - I brought my son home from the hospital in one of these, so they hold a special place in my heart.

Sleepers with magnetic snaps ($36) - these would make diaper and outfit changes a…snap…yeah I said it.

Rompers ($20) that thoughtfully zip up from the bottom are another great option.

I’ve heard people rave about Tubby Todd, especially the Everyday Balm. One of their sets ($40) would make a lovely gift.

The sweetest wash cloth puppets ($38) and hooded towel ($45).

At first glance, this might appear like a slightly overpriced accessory bar (from $45) for the Baby Bjorn bouncer, but it’s really the gift of 10 minutes of peace to shower, eat, finish a cup of reheated coffee or stare off into space….

A cozy stroller blanket in a classic design ($59.50)

If you know which carrier they have, you can opt for a brand-specific cover, but you also can’t go wrong with this universal baby carrier cover ($70) to keep baby warm in rain, wind, and snow. It also adapts for use as a carseat and stroller cover too.

Lovevery play gym ($140) - we received this as a handmedown and it is by far one of our most-used items over the past six months. A fun bonus - it’s not hideous to look at!

The Slumberpod ($170) keeps travel cribs or mini cribs dark and quiet - would be great for travel (especially if your baby is used to black out shades at home) or for daytime naps.

If you’re looking for more ideas feel free to check out my gift guide for older babies too! Happy shopping!
