2020 Holiday Gift Guide for New Moms
I can’t believe the holiday season is already upon us. Things will almost certainly look a little different this year and with anticipated shipping delays and the necessary avoidance of in- person shopping, I’m feeling the need to get started earlier than ever. My gift giving philosophy is generally to gift items a step or two (or as many as I can afford) above what the recipient might ordinarily get themselves, mixing practicality with a little luxury. With that in mind I rounded up a few ideas for new moms this holiday season - can you think of anyone else more deserving of a little luxury? I hope this provides some welcome inspiration for the new moms in your life. Happy gifting my friends.
Funny memoirs and essays ($15 and up) - my go-to for postpartum reading. Try these from David Sedaris, Amy Poehler, Mindy Kaling, Jessie Klein, or Samantha Irby.
I love this brand for easy and natural looking make-up - requiring zero skill or precision. My 2 minute beauty routine is these + this + this + this ($16 and up).
Silk pillowcase ($20) - a little extra TLC for skin and hair.
Lactation Bites ($24 and up) - an easy snack she can throw in the diaper bag or purse.
Booby Tubes ($24.99) - hot or cool relief for sore boobs.
What Kind of Woman ($26.99)- breathtaking poems about motherhood and more from Kate Baer
Stroller Handmuffs ($40-$45) - keeps you cozy on winter walks with baby and frees your hands up quickly to deal with zippers, snaps, runny noses, keys, phone or anything else that’s easier to do with bare hands.
A beautiful coffee mug ($45)- make sure it’s microwave safe. Finishing a cup of coffee while it’s hot is a thing of the past.
A candle to transport her ($49.50) - something we could all probably use these days.
40 ounce hydro flask ($49.95) - help her stay hydrated - a constant struggle for many new moms. Add a straw lid to make it that much easier for her.
Toddy Cold Brew System ($59.95) - Hot tip, new moms are tired! Did you know that? The Toddy is the gift that keeps on giving - literally the best cup of coffee I’ve ever had.
Help for postpartum hair and scalp issues - try this ($36), this ($60), or this ($85).
For babywearing and accessorizing - wrap ($65), sling ($89.95), carrier ($159).
Bidet (from $79) and/or Squatty Potty ($69) - enough said.
Minimal diaper bag ($89) - to help her get out the door just a little bit quicker.
Nursing friendly sleepwear ($115) and loungewear ($128).
A facial oil, serum, or mist ($38 and up) - since hormones, sleep deprivation, and dehyrdation all take their toll on postpartum skin.
Robe ($248)- lit’s likely the most worn item during the postpartum period, so might as well make it a good one. This one is little bit sexy and machine washable.
Theragun ($399) - new motherhood comes with oh so many aches and pains, so this would be a truly decadent gift. Stick to the elite model which advertises “ultra-quiet percussive therapy”. The other models are shockingly loud.
